Where We Started
The reality is an estimated 250 million children and adolescents around the world cannot reach minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics despite being in school. In the United States, the public school system is overwhelmed and underfunded, with resources stretched to capacity and unequal standards of quality. At Educational Coaches, Sue Perry was actuely aware of the public education system’s limitations after being a public school teacher for 31 years. She had also seen the imapct that directed, quality support in the form of tutoring had on students’ academic performance and their confidence. It was then that Sue decided to help build the confidence kids need to excel in school through private tutoring and private homeschooling.
The 3 C’s in Education
Educational Coaches uses the 3 C’s model in both tutoring and home-schooling to guarantee their students are on track. Confidence is the first area they work on with students. They help them feel confident with their studies to be able to go back into the classroom and succeed. The second area they focus on is competence, where they ensure their students have the necessary skills and ability to demonstrate their knowledege and understanding of curriculum. Additionally, Educational Coaches not only prepares students for standardized, state-required testing but works with students on the application of the skills and knowledge they have acquired. Lastly, they support students to strengthen their comprehension skills. They go above and beyond in working with their students at a sustainable pace that allows for deep thought and reflection while maintaining progress.
And of course, the program and its’ 3 C’s model would not be possible without the tireless and compassionate work of the teachers at Educational Coaches. Their consistent and thoughtful approach to learning evaluates and supports the student on a holistic level.
Educational Coaches wants to continue their mission of encouraging Confidence, Competence, and Comprehension through educational support in a safe, nurturing, and stress-free learning environment designed to enhance all aspects of student learning. However, they need the community’s help to make this a reality. The goal is to offer discounts for scholarships for their private tutoring program because no child or family should be turned away from receiving this invaluable support due to economic barriers.
The fundraiser is aiming to generate $52,000 in donations for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year so 10 students may receive private tutoring to support their academic needs.
